Udemy, the global marketplace for online education with more than 8 million users worldwide, today announced their collaboration with several leading training providers in Singapore, including Training Vision, NTUC LearningHub, ROHEI Corporation, and Imageworks, who plan to develop online courses on Udemy to meet the changing training needs of the global workplace.
“This partnership will allow job seekers access to valuable blended learning resources to help them grow their skill sets.”
The collaboration will enable these training providers, who have previously focused on in-person training, to provide convenient blended learning options that enhance skills for professionals and align with Singapore SkillsFuture initiatives. “Nearly 45 percent of Singaporean employers believe that there is a skills shortage for talented workers, so we’re delighted to partner with Udemy to offer access to our courses globally,” said Patrick Ho, executive vice president of higher education at Training Vision Institute. “This partnership will allow job seekers access to valuable blended learning resources to help them grow their skill sets.”
Singapore SkillsFuture is an initiative to invest in the country’s workforce with a vision of empowering individuals to take ownership over acquiring new skills and deepening existing skill sets. Learning opportunities exist through online and offline training resources. In the past year, the number of enrollments of Singaporean students on Udemy has grown 198 percent, so there is a vibrant community ready to engage in these new training programs. The online training offerings will complement existing in-person training on topics such as communication skills, image consulting, information technology and business management.
“It’s vital for adults everywhere to gain access to the highest quality content online at any time, so they can learn when it’s most convenient for them as well as reinforce in-person training,” said Richard Qiu, vice president of business development at Udemy. “By partnering with Singapore’s leading training providers – Training Vision, NTUC LearningHub, ROHEI Corporation, and Imageworks – we’re able to serve as a global platform that will help make valuable training materials more accessible and provide professionals with the skills needed to advance in the workplace.”
“By delivering parts of training online, we make learning more efficient and convenient for professionals in Singapore and around the world. People in Singapore are very IT savvy and many are already very used to going online for informal learning. Now we are just extending this new way of learning for formal learning.” said Kok Kwong Kwek, CEO, at NTUC LearningHub. Through the collaboration with Udemy, training providers will create courses on Udemy that every student can access anywhere to shape their future.
“Bringing our courses to Udemy enables us to reach a global audience we couldn’t otherwise reach with our training platform,” said Praise Mok, principal consultant at ROHEI Corporation. “We are eager to connect with adult learners in Singapore and beyond seeking skills for the global workplace.”
As Udemy continues to scale its offerings globally, this partnership underlines Udemy’s commitment to help professionals to invest in their skill sets. Training Vision, NTUC LearningHub, ROHEI Corporation, and Imageworks courses will be added to the Udemy marketplace of more than 32,000 courses. Udemy now serves more than 8 million students and 18,000 instructors worldwide, and is available in over 190 countries in 80 different languages.
With more than 50 percent of its revenue coming from countries outside of the United States, Udemy’s global presence is rapidly increasing as the company looks to expand to new markets and make skills-based learning more accessible across industries and around the world.
